Band Bio

First you notice the voice: pure and bell-like, with surprising clarity and power. Then you notice the music: honest, but not earnest; epic, but not Emo. For a chick with a guitar singing about love, these songs really rock. And that’s when you notice the band; they look familiar... You’ve seen them before, because they’re some of the best musicians in town.

This is Amber Fults and the Ambivalent Lovers, one of the most exciting new bands in Chattanooga. Built around the core of Amber’s smart, catchy songs (and of course that voice), The Ambivalent Lovers fashion a sound of hard hitting rock n' roll with splashes of country, pop and classic rock thrown in.

AFATAL’s first gig with a fully established lineup was competing in the first round of “McKay’s Road to Nightfall 2012” (they won). Their second gig was the final round, where they narrowly lost to their good friends Strung Like A Horse. The band is comprised of songwriter/guitarist/lead vocalist Amber Fults, drummer Hunter White (Digital Butter) bassist/vocalist Travis Kilgore (The Dirty South, Mark "Pork chop" Holder and the Codefendants) actor/harmony vocalist Hayley Graham and multi-instrumentalist/producer Butch Ross (Butch Ross).

Barely a year old, AFATAL regularly co-bills or headlines at the popular Chattanooga venues JJ’s Bohemia, The Honest Pint, and most frequently, the 400-seat Rhythm and Brews. They’ve shared bills with The Nim Nims, Jordan Hallquist and the Outfit, Mark Holder and the Codefendants, The Ryan Oyer Band, Gabriel Newell and Muddy Soul, and pretty much melt faces wherever they go.

They’ve recently completed their first 5 song EP, “the Implication”, and are in the process of completing a full length CD.

"The young woman with the shy, twinkling smile has come of age and her band is one of the best in the city." —Richard Winham, WUTC, Chattanooga Pulse
